Flower arrangements aren’t just for “I Love You†anymore!
February 26, 2009
Each year when Valentine’s Day rolls around, you will instantly see things begin to change. The prices for a typical heart shaped Mylar balloon will almost double in price. The selection of the nicer flower arrangements are harder to come by. You look through a shelf where you would typically be able to get a dozen long stem roses for less than $20 is now filled with bouquets that look like they have dropped off the back of a truck. Yet when you show up on February 14th to see what all is left, you are shocked to see that the shelves are empty, the card racks are in disarray and you are stuck once again. That is, unless you were already online shopping and decided to send flowers from 1-800-flowers.com!
While February 14th every year is a day that so many people associate with flowers, there are several different times that flowers are still found more than appropriate to say what you think. Every year on your anniversary, do you take your spouse out to dinner, or do you send flowers as well? Whenever someone’s birthday comes around, do you simply just find a quick place to grab a gift card or do you send flowers? I can remember how my father takes and every year on the first day of school, he would send my mother a bouquet of red roses to accent her desk while she teaches classes the entire day. These simple, yet easily overlooked dates are just more opportunities to show someone you care by sending them something from the heart.
Plants can make great gifts, and we’re not just talking about flowers. Many of the floral arrangements you find online will have just as large of a variety as uses as the numerous holidays or reasons for gathering that occur throughout the year. We’ve already mentioned anniversaries and birthdays, but many times people forget that flowers could be sent as congratulations for perhaps opening a new business or completing another level in higher education. Get Well and I’m sorry are also very popular reasons that some would enter a floral shop to find a gift, as well as for sympathy reasons or for an arrangement to be sent to a funeral home. What about when a family has a new baby, when a bride and groom are moving into a new home to start their new lives together, or when you just want to tell someone “thank you†for everything they have done for you.
Although there are many flowers and plants to distinguish an occasion, roses are the most popular choice amongst those who need a quick idea or are trying to get back within someone’s good graces after a falling out, there are roses for almost any occasion. Each color can represent a different feeling or thought so that there is always a color that is relevant. Whether it is white for a wedding, red for a deep love, or a yellow rose for friendship – you will always have a choice. There are plenty of other colors as well! Orange (for enthusiasm and desire), pink (appreciation and thanks), yellow and red (jovial feelings) or even a thorn-less rose to be sent to your spouse letting them know that it was “love at first sight†are just a few more ideas for the creative gift buyer!
There are more options than those that could ever be listed here! Check out 1-800-flowers.com and see their extensive lists and occasions to find that next great gift!
