Safety KitThe oils are made of concentrated material and hence cannot be consumed or applied directly. They should be kept away from children especially in cool areas. The area should not be prone to a lot of light and the containers should be tight and labeled. If the oils are handled properly then it is more or less safe. In case of decanting large volumes of oil protective gloves, coats should be used. Oils when exposed to a lot of sunlight might get too volatile and result in fires so that should be kept in mind.

A consumer can avail a detailed book on the risks and hazards of essential oils. Some oils are carcinogens and should not be used in aromatherapy as it may result in tumor production. Some oils are toxic like Almond oil bitter and should be avoided. Some oils are photo- toxic and should be avoided are they are susceptible to light and might cause problems. Some oils cause severe sensitization and irritation and should be avoided.

It is advisable to use oils which have undergone formal safety testing and have been prescribed by professional healers to reduce the risk or hazard involved while using the same.
